Who This Service Is For

Our Shopify SEO services are built for stores on every plan, from a first theme to Shopify Plus.

New Shopify Stores

The store looks good and the products are live, but organic barely registers. We set the collection structure and technical base up properly before bad habits harden.

Stores Living On Paid Traffic

Meta and Google Ads carry the revenue and margin keeps shrinking. Organic is the channel that lowers blended CAC, and collections are where it starts.

Shopify Plus Brands

Thousands of SKUs, multiple markets, and a theme several agencies have touched. We work at that scale without breaking what already converts.

Stores Migrating To Shopify

Moving from WooCommerce, Magento, or BigCommerce? Shopify’s URL structure is different, and the redirect map is what decides whether you keep your rankings.

Common Problems We Fix

Shopify creates a specific set of SEO problems out of the box. Here is what we find on almost every store, and what we do about it.

01

Collection Pages With No Content

Most themes ignore the collection description field entirely, so your highest-value URLs are a product grid and a title tag. Those pages should carry your commercial keywords.

02

Every Product On Two URLs

Shopify serves each product at /products/handle and again at /collections/name/products/handle. Without correct canonicals, link equity splits across duplicates.

03

Tag Filters Flooding The Index

Shopify tag and filter URLs multiply into thousands of near-identical pages. Googlebot spends its crawl there instead of on the collections you want ranked.

04

Sold-Out Products Deleted

Products pulled when stock runs out take their rankings and backlinks with them. When the line returns, the page starts again from zero instead of picking up where it left off.

05

Theme Schema That Falls Short

Most Shopify themes ship partial Product markup and no breadcrumbs, so you get no price, no stars, and no availability in the SERP while competitors get all three.

06

App Bloat Killing Page Speed

Every app injects its own scripts. Reviews, popups, upsells, and trackers stack up until Core Web Vitals fail on the exact templates where buyers decide.

07

Migrations Done Without Redirects

The move to Shopify went live without a redirect map. Organic revenue dropped and never recovered, and nobody could say exactly which URLs were lost.

08

Blog Content That Earns Nothing

The /blogs/news feed is full of company updates nobody searches for. Meanwhile competitors answer the comparison and how-to-choose questions and own the customer early.

How We Drive Shopify SEO Results

Collections first, products second, content third. In that order, for a reason.

On Shopify, the money keywords are collection-level searches. Running shoes for flat feet. Stainless steel water bottles. Standing desks under $500. Those searches want a page of options, not one product and not a blog post, which is why we start where the revenue is. Every collection gets one keyword target, its own copy, and its own internal link plan before we touch anything else.

Collection Keyword Mapping

We map every collection to a search: product type, attribute, use case, and price band. Where the search exists and the collection does not, we tell you which one to build.

Canonical & Crawl Control

Product canonicals pointed at /products/, tag and filter URLs handled deliberately, and robots.txt edited through the theme. Crawl budget goes to pages that earn revenue.

Schema Beyond The Theme

We replace the theme’s partial markup with complete Product, Offer, Review, and Breadcrumb schema, so price, availability, and star ratings show under your listings.

Theme Speed & Vitals

We audit every installed app, defer what can wait, remove what earns nothing, and fix the Liquid and image handling that slows your product templates.

What’s Included in Shopify SEO

Scoped around your theme, catalogue size, and how aggressively you need to move.

Shopify Store Audit

A full crawl of your store, a review of the theme and every installed app, and a prioritised fix list you could hand to any Shopify developer.

  • Full store crawl & index audit
  • Theme & app performance review
  • Competitor keyword gap analysis
  • Core Web Vitals by template

Collection Page Optimisation

The highest-value work on a Shopify store. Each collection gets a keyword, buying copy in the description field, and links pointing at it from the rest of the catalogue.

  • One keyword target per collection
  • Intro copy & on-page buying guidance
  • New collections built for missed searches
  • Title, meta & heading rewrites

Product Page & Schema Work

Descriptions that say something the supplier feed does not, plus schema written into the theme so price, stock, and stars appear in the search result.

  • Product, Offer & Review markup
  • Product URL canonical rules
  • Unique copy for your bestselling SKUs
  • Breadcrumb & FAQ markup

Blog Content Programme

Content published to /blogs/, written to rank for research searches and hand the reader straight to the right collection.

  • Comparison & alternative guides
  • How-to-choose & sizing guides
  • Gift & seasonal buying guides
  • FAQ schema on every guide

Theme Speed Optimisation

Core Web Vitals work inside the theme itself, plus a straight answer on which apps are costing you more in speed than they return.

  • App audit & script deferral
  • Image & Liquid optimisation
  • Render-blocking asset cleanup
  • Before & after vitals report

Reporting Tied To Revenue

Rankings matter, but organic revenue by collection, straight out of Shopify Analytics, is the number that decides whether this is working.

  • Organic revenue & AOV by collection
  • Ranking movement on tracked keywords
  • Live GA4 & Search Console dashboard
  • Monthly call with your specialist

Our Shopify SEO Process

Six stages, run in order, with you seeing the work at every one. No black boxes.

1

Store & Theme Audit

We crawl every collection, product, and tag URL, review the theme and app stack, then work out how much of your store Google actually holds in its index.

2

Keyword & Competitor Mapping

Every collection gets a target keyword and a realistic timeline. We separate the terms you can win this quarter from the ones that need authority built first.

3

Theme Fixes & Schema

Canonicals, tag URL handling, and complete Product markup written into your Liquid templates. We work on a duplicate theme and you preview everything before it publishes.

4

Content Rollout

Collection copy first, then buying guides, then product descriptions for the SKUs that carry your revenue. Everything reviewed by you before it goes live.

5

Authority Building

Editorial links from retail, industry, and product review publications, pointed at collection pages rather than the homepage. DR 40 is our floor.

6

Seasonal Planning & Reporting

Peak season is won months before it arrives. We prepare the pages that carry Q4 and your seasonal spikes early, then report on what they earned.

Why Choose EcomsKit for Shopify SEO

What a Shopify-specialist team does differently from a generalist SEO agency.

We Work Inside The Theme

Liquid edits, schema, and speed fixes are done by us on a duplicate theme, not handed over as a PDF for someone else to interpret.

We Know Shopify’s Limits

Forced URL prefixes, a fixed robots.txt, and collection pagination all constrain what is possible. We know which fights are worth having and which are not.

Collection-First Strategy

We optimise the pages that hold buying intent before writing a single blog post. That order produces revenue rather than a nicer traffic chart.

Full Transparency

Every change, every page, every link, listed in the monthly report with the data behind it. You can verify all of it yourself.

Frequently
asked questions

How long does Shopify SEO take to show results?
Technical fixes and schema often show up within weeks, usually as more of your store getting indexed and richer search listings. Collection page rankings tend to move at months three to five. Competitive head terms take longer, generally six to twelve months, because you are building authority against retailers who have had a decade of head start.
Do you edit our theme code directly?
Yes, and always on a duplicated theme first. You preview every change before it goes to the live store, and we keep a record of each edit so anything can be reversed. If you have a development agency, we can hand them specs instead and review the work afterwards.
Why do our products have two different URLs?
That is Shopify’s default. Every product is reachable at /products/handle and again at /collections/name/products/handle, so the same page exists at multiple addresses. Shopify sets a canonical, but themes and apps regularly break it, and internal links usually point at the collection version. We fix both, which is often the single biggest technical win on a Shopify store.
Do you write the content, or do we?
We write it, and you approve everything before it publishes. Collection copy goes into the description field so it sits above or below the product grid depending on your theme, and blog content is published to /blogs/. Where a claim touches sourcing, warranty, or compliance, we ask you to confirm the detail rather than guess at it.
Can you help us migrate to Shopify?
Yes, and the earlier you bring us in the better. Shopify’s URL structure differs from WooCommerce and Magento, so every old URL needs a mapped redirect. We build that map, audit the store before launch, and monitor indexation afterwards. Most migration losses we get asked to recover were preventable in the fortnight before go-live.
Do you work with Shopify Plus and headless builds?
Both. On Plus we can use scripts and Markets for multi-region setups, and we work with checkout customisations where they affect crawlability. For headless builds on Hydrogen or a custom front end, we work from your developers’ deployment process rather than editing Liquid directly.
